Adolescent Counselling

Sometimes we know the past is over, yet parts of us continue to respond as though it is still happening. Any difficult or painful experience, or little or big T traumas can continue to shape how we feel about ourselves, how we relate to others, and how we move through the world.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that helps the brain process these experiences in a healthier and more adaptive way. Rather than removing memories, EMDR helps reduce the emotional distress attached to them so they no longer feel as overwhelming or intrusive.

As therapy progresses, many people find that memories lose their intensity, negative beliefs begin to soften, and a greater sense of calm, clarity, and self-trust emerges. The goal is not to forget the past, but to help it take its rightful place in your story so that it no longer defines your present.
